General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Sudden weakness on one side, a drooping face or sudden speech or vision trouble means you must call 15 or 112 immediately in France, even if everything returns to normal.

A transient ischaemic attack, or TIA, can cause stroke-like signs that then disappear. Their disappearance does not rule out danger.

The risk of stroke after a TIA makes assessment urgent. Do not wait for another episode or a routine appointment to seek help.

On the telephone, describe the signs, when they started and when they stopped. Give the exact address and follow the emergency clinician’s instructions.

Assessment may include brain imaging, artery examinations and an ECG to find the cause. These investigations are organised by the emergency team.

The next action is to call 15 or 112 before travelling to hospital independently. After assessment, clarify the planned treatment and neurological follow-up.
