General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
Allergen immunotherapy can take the form of a treatment placed under the tongue and prescribed by an allergologist. The condition of the mouth then matters. The precautions below concern already prescribed ACARIZAX 12 SQ-HDM; they cannot be transferred to every allergy drop or injection.
The ACARIZAX leaflet asks patients to report a recent dental extraction, oral surgery, mouth ulcers or a mouth infection. It lists these among situations in which the product must not be taken. Contact the doctor for instructions appropriate to the treatment.
To explain the situation, provide the medicine’s name and the date of the injury or procedure. Describe the lesions and symptoms without deciding yourself that they are merely ordinary mouth ulcers. Also report planned surgery so that instructions can be obtained beforehand.
The leaflet says the doctor may delay initiation or interrupt treatment until the mouth has healed. The product information also addresses wounds and severe mouth inflammation. Clarify the conditions for restarting; do not calculate a waiting period yourself.
This check does not provide instructions to change other treatments. For asthma, the ACARIZAX leaflet requires continuing usual asthma medicines; any reduction is decided by the doctor. The product information does not indicate ACARIZAX for people over 65.
The leaflet distinguishes a severe allergic reaction, including difficulty swallowing or breathing, voice changes or a sensation of something in the throat. In that situation it requires stopping ACARIZAX and contacting the doctor immediately. Do not wait for a prevention discussion.
