General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
For diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease, a specialist Alzheimer’s team, called an ESA in France, may support the person at home and help those close to them. This service concerns mild to moderate stages.
A medical prescription is required. Ask the doctor whether it fits current difficulties; general information about the service confirms neither admission nor the availability of a team.
An ESA includes occupational therapists, psychomotor therapists and gerontological care assistants. Its work forms part of support adapted to the person, their environment and their habits.
Prepare an example of a task that has become difficult at home. Non-drug care may work on communication, orientation or movement abilities; ask which goals have been chosen for your relative.
Ameli describes a maximum of twelve to fifteen sessions spread over three months within a year, with possible renewal of the prescription after one year. Confirm arrangements and timing with the team concerned.
The GP coordinates follow-up and reassesses support when health changes. Ask whom to contact between sessions and how to report difficulties; this support does not guarantee that the disease will stop.
