General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
The phrase “genetic material” can raise a specific question: does an mRNA vaccine change our DNA? Answering it means distinguishing the message used by a cell from the cell’s genome.
In some Covid vaccines, messenger RNA provides instructions for the cell to make a viral protein. This protein triggers an immune response; it is not the whole virus.
Vaccine mRNA does not alter the genome of cells. It therefore does not turn them into genetically modified cells. The word “messenger” describes an instruction, rather than a change to DNA.
The message does not enter the cell nucleus, where DNA is located. It is then rapidly eliminated. The message’s temporary presence and the body’s response are different things to understand.
This explanation addresses the DNA question. If your concern is different, such as a possible side effect or the value of vaccination in your situation, ask the professional to address that question separately.
Before the discussion, write down the wording or claim that worries you and bring the source you consulted. Have the professional clarify that point before continuing your preparation through the existing vaccination pathway.

Flu and Covid-19: the 2026–2027 campaign
The national flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign starts on 13 October 2026. In Doctolib, choose “Vaccination antigrippale (Grippe)” or “Vaccination COVID-19” for the vaccination you want to discuss.
Bring your carte Vitale and, for flu, your coverage voucher if you have one. The professional checks the recommendations and coverage conditions that apply to you.
The pharmacy checks whether vaccination and coverage apply based on the vaccine, your age and your circumstances.
