General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
A Carte Vitale and an attestation de droits are different documents. The attestation confirms membership of French health insurance and may be required for administrative steps, including those involving complementary insurance.
Ameli recommends updating the physical card at least once a year and after a change recorded by your insurance fund. Most pharmacies have update terminals; check which service is available before travelling.
The Carte Vitale app updates its data when opened with an internet connection, except civil-status details: these remain those from the identity document presented when the app was activated. This works differently from updating the physical card at a terminal.
If you belong to the general scheme, download your attestation from the procedures section of your ameli account or app. Keep the PDF and print it when the receiving organisation requires a paper document.
Service Public states that copying the document supplied with your Carte Vitale does not produce a valid attestation. Without an ameli account, contact your insurance fund; other insurance schemes have their own procedures.
These documents help with administration, but do not guarantee full reimbursement or no upfront payment for every service. Ask which conditions apply to your vaccination or other care.
