General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Incorrectly used wood heating emits fine particles. A newer appliance does not compensate for poor combustion.

Use thoroughly dry wood. Avoid treated or painted wood, old furniture and chipboard.

Store logs sheltered from rain, in a ventilated space and off the ground.

ADEME recommends lighting from the top and not overloading the firebox. Follow your appliance’s own instructions.

Open air inlets when lighting and refuelling. Reduce them once the fire is established, without closing them completely, including overnight.

Arrange servicing and chimney sweeping with a professional. A so-called chimney-cleaning log does not replace that work.
