General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

The gallbladder stores bile rather than producing it. After its removal, bile flow remains present and becomes more continuous.

Digestion is usually little changed. Following the team's initial eating plan, no particular long-term diet is generally needed solely because the gallbladder was removed.

Diarrhoea can sometimes relate to the changed bile flow. Describe a persistent problem to the doctor rather than deciding its cause yourself.

Report vomiting, fever, jaundice or persistent pain to the doctor. Removing the gallbladder does not rule out all later biliary complications.

Recovery varies with keyhole or open surgery, complications and the work you do. Follow individual advice for lifting and sport.

The discharge document ends the work leave covered by the hospital admission certificate. If recovery still requires rest, ask the doctor for an appropriate new medical leave certificate.
