General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
Preventing tooth decay combines several habits. French Health Insurance recommends brushing at least twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste suited to age.
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and clean every tooth surface. If a movement is difficult, ask a dentist to check it. Limited mobility or a dental appliance may require individual advice.
The spaces between teeth also need attention. Floss or an interdental brush can complement brushing; ask which size and technique suit your mouth.
Frequent sugary or acidic foods and drinks contribute to tooth decay risk. Note snacks and drinks during your day to prepare a practical discussion, rather than trying to compensate with aggressive brushing.
Regular dental checks can identify problems before pain starts. Persistent pain, swelling or other symptoms need assessment: brushing advice does not replace dental treatment.
Write down any difficulty with your routine to discuss with a professional. To organise other prevention priorities, our Faire le point sur ma santé page explains Mon bilan prévention at Pharmacie Kennedy Mulhouse.
