General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

In exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, digestive enzymes may be prescribed to replace an inadequate pancreatic function. Digestive discomfort alone is not a reason to take them without a diagnosis.

This treatment may be indicated in cystic fibrosis, certain documented cases of chronic pancreatitis or after certain pancreatic operations. Ask why it is proposed for you.

For CREON 10,000 U gastro-resistant capsules, the leaflet says to take them during or immediately after meals. Ask for your plan for meals and snacks without choosing the dose yourself.

The leaflet says to swallow the capsule whole with water, without biting or chewing it. The granules have a protective coating: crushing them can reduce their effect and irritate the mouth.

If swallowing is difficult, the leaflet for this product allows opening the capsule and mixing the granules with a small amount of apple purée or yoghurt. Swallow immediately without chewing; do not store the mixture.

Tell your doctor about persistent digestive symptoms and any difficulty following the schedule. Bring the pack and prescription to the pharmacist to check the product and instructions; do not change the dose yourself.
