General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

After a diagnosed epicondylitis, treatment includes resting the affected tendons and changing movements. Elbow pain can have other causes; one painful movement alone does not establish the diagnosis.

Gripping a tool tightly, repeated forearm rotation and some wrist movements can load these tendons. Note which tasks at work, during sport or while doing DIY reproduce the pain.

Stopping the activities responsible forms part of treatment. Ask which tasks to pause and how to adapt them; a support may be useful in some circumstances but does not replace movement changes.

An exercise programme is developed with a physiotherapist once the initial acute pain has settled. Clarify movements and progression; do not immediately resume the effort that triggered the problem.

An injection may ease pain in the short term without shortening the course of epicondylitis; it can also weaken the tendon. Surgery is discussed only after medical treatment over several months has failed.

Before returning to sport or a repetitive task, describe the planned movements and loads to your doctor. Ask what is permitted and whether your occupational physician should consider changes to your workstation for the elbow.
