General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

After a child’s wrist fracture, ask the care team which type was diagnosed and what treatment is planned. The follow-up schedule depends on that distinction.

For a buckle fracture, French health insurance describes immobilisation usually lasting around three weeks, without routine follow-up X-rays or consultation. Confirm the instructions given for your child.

For other fractures treated with immobilisation, a review with X-rays between seven and ten days can check for later displacement. Keep the appointment arranged by the team.

The duration of immobilisation can also differ. Hospices Civils de Lyon describes monitoring fractures treated with a cast; the exact fracture and individual plan remain decisive.

After cast removal, a child’s wrist movement usually returns quickly. Ask the team what recovery to expect and contact them again if you are concerned.

Returning to sport, trampolining or playground slides requires medical advice. Clarify the restrictions and review date before resuming these activities.
