General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
Before selecting chemical gloves, the employer assesses the products and the actual task. Eliminating or replacing the hazard remains the priority.
Gloves must resist the products handled. Splashes, immersion, wear duration, dexterity and glove condition all need assessment for the task.
INRS recommends reusable gloves when handling chemicals. Thin disposable gloves are limited to tasks without direct product contact, except in an incident.
If a thin disposable glove contacts the product, change it as soon as contact occurs without touching the product to skin, then wash hands with soap and water. Full hand immersion requires gauntlet gloves.
A permeation class compares performance; it is not the duration of protection at the workstation. Inspect gloves before use and follow care instructions. Wash your hands before and after every use of gloves; do not share your gloves.
Gloves supplement collective controls when risk remains. Ask the employer to clarify the model and instructions for the task.
