General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

During gliflozin treatment, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain require immediate medical assessment for ketoacidosis, regardless of the glucose reading.

Ketoacidosis can occur without marked hyperglycaemia during gliflozin treatment. Mildly raised glucose alone cannot rule out this risk.

Blood glucose and blood ketone measurements assess glucose and ketone bodies respectively. They are different measurements.

ANSM also reports this risk in people receiving a gliflozin for heart failure. The context therefore extends beyond diabetes.

If ketone monitoring is prescribed for type 2 diabetes, ask for an explanation of warning situations and results.

The cited HAS assessment provides for instruction in capillary sampling and using the meter when supplied. Ask to review any unclear step.
