Pregnancy: discussing flu and Covid vaccination

Separate personal recommendations, who can vaccinate and reimbursement. Prepare a clear request with the team supporting your pregnancy.

General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

During pregnancy, flu and Covid vaccinations are recommended regardless of trimester. Discuss your circumstances with your midwife, doctor or pharmacist, rather than settling the decision from general information alone.

The general recommendation does not replace a personal discussion. Mention your stage of pregnancy and known vaccination or Covid infection dates, then ask how to coordinate the next step with the professional following your pregnancy.

Flu can be more severe during pregnancy. Vaccination aims to protect the mother and also helps protect the baby in its first months after birth.

The flu vaccine is covered at 100% for pregnant women by French health insurance. Giving the injection follows separate rules: ask what coverage applies at your stage of pregnancy and in your circumstances.

For flu, discuss the coverage voucher with your professional too. Ask which document to obtain and when to present it, so you can prepare the next step of your vaccination plans.

If pharmacy vaccination is agreed, choose the flu or Covid appointment type and tell the professional about your pregnancy. Agree the appropriate visit and how your pregnancy care team will be informed.

Flu and Covid-19: the 2026–2027 campaign

The national flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign starts on 13 October 2026. In Doctolib, choose “Vaccination antigrippale (Grippe)” or “Vaccination COVID-19” for the vaccination you want to discuss.

Bring your carte Vitale and, for flu, your coverage voucher if you have one. The professional checks the recommendations and coverage conditions that apply to you.

The pharmacy checks whether vaccination and coverage apply based on the vaccine, your age and your circumstances.
