General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
An établissement et service d’accompagnement par le travail, or ESAT, offers work in an adapted setting for some people with disabilities. It combines this activity with medical, social and educational support.
An ESAT is intended for people whose abilities do not allow them to work in an ordinary workplace or an adapted company. Their situation and support needs are assessed under applicable criteria.
An application for placement is sent to the MDPH. If conditions are met, the disability rights and autonomy commission, or CDAPH, may decide on an ESAT placement.
The decision is sent by letter with a list of establishments. Contact those that interest you to check whether you can register; a placement decision does not reserve a place.
The person admitted signs a work support contract specifying, among other things, the activity and support. Ask about the schedule, the work and the people to contact.
Ordinary employment has a different organisation and does not require an MDPH placement decision. Ask your support team to compare options suited to your situation.
