General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
After endonasal surgery for a pituitary adenoma, follow-up continues after you return home. The pituitary helps control hormones, so the team also checks its function after surgery. Keep the instructions given at discharge.
Fever, severe headaches, visual changes or continuous clear nasal discharge require contact with the doctor or surgical team. Do not immediately assume that the last sign is simply a runny nose after the procedure.
Also report frequent thirst or urination, and nosebleeds. HCL lists these changes among warning signs. Before discharge, ask which number to use and what to do at different times of day.
Continue prescribed hormone treatment according to the instructions. In particular, do not stop hydrocortisone without medical agreement. Reassessment depends on hormone tests and the endocrine appointment, even when recovery seems good.
Nasal care and precautions related to the surgical route are also part of returning home. Ask for an explanation of prescribed rinses and the activity restrictions intended for you. Your individual discharge plan guides resumption of activities.
Follow-up includes hormone tests and imaging according to the team’s programme. Confirm appointments and who will explain the findings. Good day-to-day recovery does not replace coordinated assessment with the endocrinologist and surgeon.
