A crisis can interrupt water, electricity or travel. Prepare a three-day kit before you need it.

France’s Civil Security service recommends six litres of bottled drinking water per person and non-perishable food that needs no cooking.

Add a torch, battery radio and spare batteries, a charger, warm clothing and first-aid supplies.

Include personal medicines, spare glasses and copies of prescriptions and essential documents in a waterproof pouch.

Keep the kit somewhere easy to reach. Check dates and batteries regularly, and replace anything used.

The kit helps while awaiting assistance or leaving when instructed. Follow the authorities’ instructions to shelter or evacuate.
