French exception medicines: which prescription sections should you keep?

The S3326 form has four sections with different recipients. Some prescriptions issued after prior authorisation can serve as this document.

General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

A French exception medicine has special reimbursement formalities. The S3326 form is used when prescribing follows the indications in its therapeutic information sheet; the form alone does not guarantee coverage.

On the S3326 model, section 1 is kept by the insured person. Retain this copy so you can refer to the prescription and dispensing information.

Sections 2 and 3 are intended for the health insurance organisation; section 4 stays with the pharmacist or supplier. Present the set provided and ask who sends the required sections.

The prescriber records the treatment and certifies compliance with the therapeutic information sheet’s conditions. The pharmacist completes the dispensing details: let each professional complete their section.

If treatment relates to an exempting ALD, the doctor records this. The exception prescription can then serve as a two-zone prescription; ask for this relationship to be checked on the document supplied.

Following approval of coverage for certain lipid-lowering medicines, the online service’s prescription or section 3 of the request serves as an exception prescription. Under the paper procedure, present that section with the coverage certificate.
