General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
A prescription issued in another European Union member state can be assessed by a pharmacy in France. Its prescriber must be legally authorised to prescribe in that country.
Locate your surname, first name and date of birth, together with the prescriber’s identity and professional contact details. The date of issue and signature must also be readable.
The medicine’s common name, dosing instructions and treatment duration or prescribed quantity help identify the prescription. Ask the prescriber to complete any missing information.
If the language or wording makes the prescription difficult to understand, checks may be needed. Keep the prescriber’s contact details available so the pharmacist can contact them.
Medicines subject to French controlled-narcotic regulations require additional formal checks. Present the prescription so the pharmacist can identify the rules applicable to the exact medicine.
If there is a difficulty, ask which point still needs checking: authenticity, content, intelligibility or the prescriber’s professional status. This helps you obtain the necessary document or explanation from the prescriber.
