Paint and flooring: what does the indoor-air emissions label mean?

From A+ to C, the label describes emissions after application and drying. Precautions during work still matter.

General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Before choosing paint, adhesive or an indoor covering, look for the indoor-air emissions label.

Its scale runs from A+, very low emissions, to C, high emissions of volatile pollutants.

The ministry explains that the rating concerns the applied, dry product after installation in the room.

It therefore does not describe pollutants released when opening the container or during application.

For painting, ADEME recommends products containing little or no organic solvent.

Air freshly painted rooms thoroughly. ADEME also advises avoiding sleeping there that same day.
