General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
On a French prescription, ‘hors AMM’ means the prescribed use falls outside the relevant marketing authorisation’s framework. The note does not mean that the medicine has no marketing authorisation at all, or that you should decide on your own that the prescription is unlawful.
The French pharmacists’ order distinguishes prescribing within a compassionate framework from prescribing without one. Ask the prescriber which framework concerns your prescription.
The prescriber must explain the off-label use, benefits, risks, constraints and reimbursement conditions. They add the relevant wording to the prescription and document their reasons in the medical record.
Ask the prescriber which framework applies to the intended use and what they expect from the treatment. Clarify the planned follow-up and how to raise questions later. The explanation concerns your prescription; a general article cannot decide whether the treatment is appropriate.
The pharmacist can help you identify the wording and points to clarify. CNOP distinguishes exceptional coverage within a compassionate prescribing framework from a medicine prescribed outside that framework, which is not reimbursed by Assurance Maladie. Confirm the regime for your prescription.
Keep the prescription and the explanations provided. If something remains uncertain, contact the professional responsible before deciding on a change. This reading guide does not recommend a medicine, a dose or stopping or continuing a treatment.
