General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Lower abdominal heaviness or a bulge felt in the vagina may suggest pelvic organ prolapse. Arrange a medical examination rather than deciding from the symptom alone that an organ has descended.

Describe when the discomfort occurs: prolonged standing, physical effort or the end of the day. Explain whether rest reduces it and which activities, work tasks or sexual relations have become uncomfortable.

Also report a weak urinary stream, incomplete emptying, leakage or constipation. These associated problems matter in the assessment; a diary of urinary leaks cannot identify a prolapse on its own.

A gynaecological examination allows the doctor to confirm prolapse and assess which organs are involved and its extent. They also assess its effect on daily life. Bring your questions and explain which problems bother you most.

Surgery is not automatic. Depending on the examination and your preferences, the doctor discusses everyday measures, rehabilitation or a vaginal pessary. The choice and follow-up are agreed with you; do not select a device yourself.

To protect the pelvic floor, ask about adapting activities, limiting repeated heavy lifting and preventing constipation. Seek medical advice if you have difficulty passing urine; Mon bilan prévention does not replace this consultation.
