General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Respiratory rehabilitation proposed by a doctor combines exercise retraining, adapted activity and education about managing the condition. The programme is personalised.

Ask about the goals: returning to adapted activities, tolerating exertion and recovering after effort. Ask how the programme will take your everyday difficulties into account.

Ask how your capacity and tolerance for activity will be assessed, and which examination reports to bring. In COPD, further tests tailored to the person may complete the assessment.

Ask who guides exercise retraining and how it fits with education about managing the condition. In COPD, broader care may also include dietary advice or psychological support.

Clarify which warning signs to watch for and what to do if breathlessness worsens. Ask how to integrate the advice and adapted activity into daily life.

Seek medical assessment the same day for recent breathlessness without signs of respiratory distress. If breathing difficulty prevents you from finishing sentences or comes with bluish lips or confusion, call 15 or 112 immediately in France.
