General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

If several cited rivastigmine patches were applied by mistake, the leaflets require removing them all and telling the doctor. Medical monitoring may be needed.

For the cited ARROW and SANDOZ patches, the old patch must be removed before the new one. Only one is worn at a time, with replacement after 24 hours under the prescribed instructions.

The prescribing information reports serious overdoses, sometimes requiring hospital care, particularly from leaving an old patch on or wearing several together. Carers must know this rule.

Both leaflets suggest writing the day of the week on the patch with a fine ballpoint pen if helpful. This supports checking replacement, without authorising an extra patch.

A missed patch must not be compensated for with two patches. The cited leaflets prohibit this double application; ask for the restart instructions to be explained if the last application is uncertain.

After more than three days without a patch, the leaflets require consulting the doctor before applying the next one. Restarting treatment must be arranged with the doctor.
