General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Tiers payant allows Assurance Maladie to pay the professional directly. You do not advance the relevant share of reimbursed care costs; this alone does not define your insurance coverage.

With partial tiers payant, costs not covered by Assurance Maladie remain payable. Full tiers payant can cover the compulsory and supplementary shares: clarify what applies to the particular service.

Certain care and situations give entitlement to tiers payant, including Complémentaire santé solidaire. Outside mandatory cases, a community professional may offer it for the compulsory share but is not obliged to.

Present your updated Carte Vitale and any supporting documents required for your entitlement. For example, AME uses its specific proof, and a work accident its corresponding form.

Tiers payant does not remove flat-rate contributions or medical deductibles when you are not exempt. Assurance Maladie may recover these amounts later.

Fees above the statutory tariff remain outside Assurance Maladie reimbursement. Your supplementary insurer may cover some under your contract: ask which amounts are payable immediately and which could ultimately remain your responsibility.
