General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Information about vaccine effectiveness should specify what was measured. An infection with symptoms, hospital admission and death are different outcomes. The word “effective” alone does not show which outcome a study assessed.

For influenza, Ameli explains that vaccination reduces the risk of serious complications or death, without always preventing illness. An infection after vaccination therefore does not, on its own, describe all its benefits.

In real world studies, researchers compare groups. The reference may contain unvaccinated people or people with a different vaccination history. Identify this comparison before interpreting the reported result and its meaning.

Check the period studied. A Santé publique France report from 2022 concerned symptomatic Covid-19 infections. Its title identifies an outcome, without providing a personal estimate of your protection under today’s circumstances.

Check who was studied. Age, other illnesses, time since vaccination and circulating viruses matter. Results obtained in different settings need careful reading before you compare them or apply them to yourself.

Bring the information that raised your question to the professional. Ask what benefit is expected for you and what the study supports. Clarify these points before continuing your vaccination pathway.

Flu and Covid-19: the 2026–2027 campaign

The national flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign starts on 13 October 2026. In Doctolib, choose “Vaccination antigrippale (Grippe)” or “Vaccination COVID-19” for the vaccination you want to discuss.

Bring your carte Vitale and, for flu, your coverage voucher if you have one. The professional checks the recommendations and coverage conditions that apply to you.

The pharmacy checks whether vaccination and coverage apply based on the vaccine, your age and your circumstances.
