Vaccine and injection: understanding the two reimbursement rules

Reimbursement for the vaccine and for its injection are separate. Check your circumstances and cover before vaccination.

General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

“The vaccine is reimbursed” does not automatically mean that the same rule covers the entire visit. The vaccine itself and the procedure carried out by the healthcare professional are separate items.

For several vaccines, cover depends on the prescription and your circumstances. Supplementary health insurance may cover an amount left to pay if the terms of your policy provide for it.

The flu vaccine is covered at 100% for people targeted by the recommendations. For children aged two to seventeen without a chronic condition, the stated reimbursement rate for the vaccine is 65%.

Covid-19 vaccines are covered at 100%. Their injection follows the usual reimbursement rules, with particular circumstances possible. The vaccine and the injection therefore need to be considered separately.

Bring your carte Vitale and any reimbursement voucher you have received. Ask the healthcare professional to clarify the cover that applies and any possible charges before vaccination takes place.

The vaccination section helps you choose the relevant appointment type. Booking an appointment does not, by itself, confirm a reimbursement amount or that there will be no charges.

Flu and Covid-19: the 2026–2027 campaign

The national flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign starts on 13 October 2026. In Doctolib, choose “Vaccination antigrippale (Grippe)” or “Vaccination COVID-19” for the vaccination you want to discuss.

Bring your carte Vitale and, for flu, your coverage voucher if you have one. The professional checks the recommendations and coverage conditions that apply to you.

The pharmacy checks whether vaccination and coverage apply based on the vaccine, your age and your circumstances.
