General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.
Being deaf or hard of hearing does not determine how you prefer to communicate. Santé publique France’s guide notes that writing or lip-reading may be unsuitable or require considerable effort: explain what works for you.
Before your vaccination appointment, describe your needs when contacting the pharmacy. Ask which adjustments can be arranged, such as extra time for discussion or a quieter setting. Confirm their availability with the team.
For spoken communication, facing each other and speaking clearly can help; shouting or exaggerating facial movements is unnecessary. If understanding remains difficult, say so immediately rather than miss an important point.
If you use French sign language, ask whether appropriate interpreting can be arranged. When an interpreter is present, the professional should address you directly. A companion should not become the sole recipient of explanations about your vaccination.
Before injection, you need to understand the explanations and communicate your history or reactions to other vaccines. Ask for clarification as needed; medical checks and your consent take place with the professional, not through information only partly understood.
Before leaving, check that you understand the instructions and where to find the vaccination record. Ask for a useful format for information you need to keep. This preparation does not guarantee specific equipment or an interpreter at the pharmacy.

Flu and Covid-19: the 2026–2027 campaign
The national flu and Covid-19 vaccination campaign starts on 13 October 2026. In Doctolib, choose “Vaccination antigrippale (Grippe)” or “Vaccination COVID-19” for the vaccination you want to discuss.
Bring your carte Vitale and, for flu, your coverage voucher if you have one. The professional checks the recommendations and coverage conditions that apply to you.
The pharmacy checks whether vaccination and coverage apply based on the vaccine, your age and your circumstances.
