General information, not an individual diagnosis. Ask a healthcare professional if you are unsure about your situation.

Confirmed benign paroxysmal positional vertigo causes brief spinning sensations with certain changes in head position. Movement-triggered dizziness alone cannot establish the diagnosis.

Small deposits in the inner ear can disturb a canal involved in balance. A professional uses positional tests and observes eye movements to identify the affected canal.

A repositioning or liberatory manoeuvre aims to move or disperse these deposits. A trained doctor or physiotherapist performs it, selecting the method according to the canal involved.

If typical symptoms persist, the manoeuvre can sometimes be repeated during the same session when physical condition and comfort permit. Ask the professional what is planned for you.

Reassessment checks progress after treatment. If symptoms persist or change unexpectedly, contact the team rather than repeatedly performing manoeuvres found online on your own.

With vertigo and inability to stand, double vision, difficulty speaking or controlling a limb, seek medical assessment immediately. Do not wait for a scheduled session with these signs. If inability to stand or loss of balance, double vision, a speech problem or difficulty controlling a limb appears suddenly, call 15 or 112 in France immediately, even if the signs disappear.
